      For some people travelling is a dream, for some it is a passion, but at all events, tourism is still connected with ideas such as relaxation, happiness and pleasure. However, the fact that tourism is such an idealized concept tends to cover up the bad sides of this activity. White sand beaches and coconut trees make people forget about the negative impact of tourism, which are mainly economical, social, ecological and cultural.
       Ecologically, the industry of tourism being the first one in the world, its consequences aren’t negligible. The expansion of tourism causes a growing environmental problem: because of the circulation it involves, of the consumption and the waste it creates, of the pressure it exerts on the ecosystem, mass tourism damages Earth more and more everyday.
       Socially and economically, it is totally clear that tourism in third world’s countries causes or exacerbates the poverty of local populations. These populations never benefit of the huge profit that big companies make out of tourism, on the contrary their life place get deteriorated. Some might even lose their houses to allow multinational companies to build hotels or tourism complexes.
        Nevertheless, if mass tourism is destructive, there are manners to travel and support local people, cultures, environment and economies. It is “sustainable tourism”’s purpose to travel in a way which is still exciting and enjoyable but also respectful of our planet and its people.

voila. merci d'avance.

Economical = econome
