Does ERP only related to e-commerce?
Moi... Not at all. The ERP here is Generix. It manage everything but the e-Commerce. The e-Commerce use it's own processes and only send orders notifications and customers information to the ERP. The ERP definition is "Enterprise Resource Planning". Generix mostly manages products, prices, orders, warehouses, financial and customers.
Elle... So ERP has to be with some softwares Elle... like Generix, SAP and oracle Elle... can we use ERP with any software? Elle... sorry, without
Moi... ERP is interfaced with many softwares like : - e-Commerce web site - Intranet tools - Other GE ERP
Moi... Yes, any ERP can be interfaced with any application. An ERP is just a package of programs that manage entreprise ressources
Elle... as I understand, ERP is jsut a management idea, the softwares are the tools to realize ti
Moi... No, an ERP is a package of softwares, provided by Generix, SAP, Oracle or other editors. It's an integrated solution to manage the entreprise ressources. But an ERP does never fit exactly to the needs of the entreprise, so many other software are plugged on it to add some functionnalities, or optimize some other. But even if you use satelites applications, the core of the program remains the ERP.
Elle... so it's mainly a idea, but not a technology
Moi... no an ERP is a package, not processes or ideas Moi... it's a software package that provides a support for processing and store of informations
Elle... ok, that's one thing I have to confirm Elle... does that need a lot of knowledge of runing the business instead of just computer skills to develop ERP?
Moi... You need to be skilled with any profession that the ERP will manage. By exemple, to create the financial part of the package, you defiunitely need to be skilled with financial principles, and more than when working for a simple company : the ERP must to fit with any company needs, so you must be able to understand all the possible ways to manage it.
