bon voila , jai un xfree 4.3( de base celui de mdk 9.1 ) et quand je veux installer le drivers officiel ( avec le force comme decrit dans les tutoriaux ) :  
 
jai beaucoup d'erreur : il me met des quand load module fglrx et blablabla  
je voudrait bien vous poster lerreur mais maintenant quand je fais urpmi --allow-force fglrx-glc22-4.3.0-2.9.8.i586.rpm
il me dit tout est deja installe :(
 
ensuite jai pas trouver la ligne Device="Radeon" donc jai fait le fglrxconfig  
 
le modprobe fglrx , il me dit quil a jamais entendu parler de fglrx ( c'ant locate module si je me souviens bien )
 
je fait startx , jai un ecran noir :(

T'as fait un backup de ton XF86Config-4 ? C'est pas grave, tu peux toujours le regénérer avec XFdrake en console.
 
La ligne Driver "radeon" est dans la section "Device"
 
J'ai une 8500, mais j'ai essayé les deux : les drivers DRI (que tu ne peux pas utiliser) et les drivers ATI.

En fait, tu peux utiliser le fichier généré par XFdrake, et remplacer "Driver "radeon" par fglrx.
Par contre, tu dois rajouter :

il te dit qu'il a bien compilé et bien installé, et quand tu lances la config, il t'explique qu'en chargeant un module propriétaire dans le noyau Linux (qui est libre) tu va le "teinter" . J'ai le même message avec nvidia.

cetait trop beau pour etre vrai , mais la je crois que je touche a la fin et que c juste un probleme de resolution !  
 
Bon voila les bug :

optimal : 1280 * 1024 @ 60 hertz

le pb vient de l'écran : il n'arrive pas à trouver une config utilisable par ton écran et par ta CG (en particulier, les couleurs en 16 bits, elle a pas l'air d'aimer)
 
essaye de modifier XF86config--4 pour changer le depth

quesque je doit faire dedans pour que la resolution soit  supportee par fglrx :  
un 1280*1024 en 60 hertz  
ou la reso en dessous inf ou egale a 75 hertz acceptee par fglrx !

Non :( on peut pas vraiment agir sur les drivers libres.
Il y avait un problème de curseur bloqué avec les 2.9.6, qui est corrigé avec les 2.9.8. L'astuce était de changer le curseur lui-même (j'ai donné la manoeuvre dans un topic sur quake et ATI, il faudrait le retrouver). Peut-être ça marcherait ? Mais faut pas trop espérer.
