Software-wise, 19 million Playstation 1 titles were shipped in Q2 (not just Sony productions), down from 40 million for the quarter a year ago. Since its launch, 802 million units have shipped. As for the PS2, 72.5 million PS2 titles have shipped so far. In Q2 22.7 million CDs were shipped, compared with 3.4 million a year earlier. Sony's games business for Q2 was up by 83 per cent on the period a year earlier. The Playstation operation had an operating profit of 4.1 billion yen ($34 million) compared with a loss of 2.9 billion yen ($23.55 million) in the year-ago period. |
